Banzha is a small, independent Chinese restaurant in Bergen, founded and run by Michelle Zhao and Christopher Haatuft.
We are located in the heart of Bergen, serving bold, shareable dishes from Yunnan in Southwest China. Our food is fresh, vibrant, and full of contrast. Meant to be enjoyed together, around the table, in a relaxed and social atmosphere.
Yunnan is home to one of China’s most diverse groups of ethnic minorities, each with their own traditions, ingredients, and ways of cooking. This rich cultural mix is at the heart of what makes the food so unique.
Our chefs have been trained in-house using Michelle’s original recipes, developed from the food she grew up with.
We focus on bold, authentic dishes from Yunnan. Comforting, spicy, soulful food meant to be shared. Our kitchen produces nearly everything in-house, and our ingredients come from both local suppliers and carefully selected Chinese producers.
